Your beat, your call
Reporters pitch their own story list at the 8:00 AM conference. Editors argue with it; they do not replace it.
We are eleven journalists, four engineers and a live-data desk that does not close. If you would rather be at the ground than in a meeting, we should talk.
SportzCrazy is small enough that your byline matters and big enough that 4.2 million people a month read it. Nobody here waits three years for a beat. If you can report it and stand it up, you own it from week one.
We are a newsroom, not a content farm. There is no daily quota of ten posts, no rewrite desk turning other people's copy into ours, and no editor who will ask you to hype a claim you cannot source. What we do ask is that you file clean, file fast, and correct loudly when you get it wrong.
The commercial side sits on the other side of a wall we actually enforce. Advertisers do not see copy before publication, do not get headlines changed, and do not appear in the story conference. That is written into every contract we sign, including yours.
Reporters pitch their own story list at the 8:00 AM conference. Editors argue with it; they do not replace it.
Press box access across the IPL, ISL, PKL, WPL and every India international, home and away.
Every long read gets a line edit and a structural edit. Nobody's copy goes out untouched, including the Editor-in-Chief's.
4.2 million monthly readers, 340,000 forum members and a newsletter that lands in 210,000 inboxes at 7:30 AM.
The day opens with a twenty-minute story conference on Zoom for the bureaus and in the Delhi newsroom for everyone else. Everybody pitches, including the interns. By nine the live desk has the day's fixtures on the board and by eleven the first analysis piece is subbed and scheduled.
Then it depends on the calendar. A Test match day is a rolling live blog, three writers and a producer. A dead Tuesday in July is long reads, podcast recording and the kind of database work Sandeep does with headphones on and the door shut.
Delhi and Mumbai staff are in three days a week. Bureau reporters are wherever the fixture is. Nobody is asked to sit in an office to look busy.
Champions League and NBA shifts finish at 4:00 AM. Anyone on one of those starts the next day at 2:00 PM, and the shift allowance is in writing.
Courses, conferences, data tooling, a better microphone. Tell your editor what you bought after you bought it.
Five o'clock Friday, the whole desk picks the week's best story and the week's worst take. Both get named. It has been running since 2019.
Eight vacancies, listed with the honest version of the job. Applications close ; we review on a rolling basis and reply to every applicant either way.
Cover the India men's and women's sides, the IPL and the WPL alongside Rukmini Iyer. You will travel on tour, file match reports inside 40 minutes of the final ball, work sources across selection and administration, and take a turn on The Third Umpire. Six years' reporting experience, two of them on a national beat, and a portfolio with at least three stories you broke yourself.
Join Tanvi Kulkarni on the desk that keeps the scoreboard honest. You will reconcile dual feeds in real time, resolve discrepancies against official scorecards, own the failover rules when a provider drops, and publish the monthly latency and uptime report readers can actually check. Strong SQL, comfort with streaming data, and a genuine tolerance for a 4:00 AM NBA shift.
Two explainers a day, post-match reaction cuts within the hour, and one longer feature a month. You will shoot and cut, write your own scripts, and work with the reporters rather than waiting for their copy. Premiere or Resolve to a professional standard, motion graphics literacy, and a showreel where the first ten seconds earn the next fifty.
Edit and mix all three shows — The Third Umpire, Offside Rule and Pit Wall Radio — build the cold opens, run the guest booking calendar and keep 640 episodes of archive tidy. You will also produce one investigative audio series a year. Three years in audio post, a good ear for pacing, and the discipline to cut your host's favourite tangent.
Own 340,000 forum members and the matchday social output with Rehan Fernandes. You will set moderation policy and enforce it evenly, turn the best threads into commissioned features, and run live social during Tests, ISL matchweeks and race weekends. We are hiring for judgement under pressure, not follower count — the job is defusing an argument at midnight, in public, without losing the room.
Build the live match centre, the scoreboard and the standings views in vanilla JavaScript and hand-written CSS — no framework, by design. Hard budgets: under 90 KB of script on the critical path, interactive under two seconds on a mid-range Android on 4G, and a full keyboard path through every widget. You will work directly with the live-data desk and own accessibility as a shipping requirement, not a ticket.
Run direct and programmatic delivery across a 4.2 million-reader site: trafficking, pacing, viewability reporting, brand-safety controls and monthly reconciliation. You will also police the wall — sponsored work goes through the branded-content team and gets the "Paid Partnership" flag, every time. Four years in ad ops, fluency in ad servers and consent frameworks, and no appetite for grey areas.
A season-long contract covering the eastern ISL clubs alongside Arjun Sequeira: matchday reporting home and away, the club-by-club transfer file, and one tactical piece a week. Ideal for a reporter with two years on a regional football beat who wants a national platform and an editor who will actually read the second draft. Renewable, and two of our last three contract hires went permanent.
Five steps, roughly three weeks end to end. Every stage is paid if it takes more than an hour of your time, and you get a decision at each one.
₹10 lakh medical cover for you, a partner and two dependants, no waiting period. Annual health check on the company.
Twenty-four days of annual leave, twelve public holidays, and a hard rule that nobody carries more than five days into the next year.
Twenty-six weeks primary and twelve weeks secondary caregiver leave, fully paid, with a phased return over the following month.
Every shift ending after midnight carries an allowance and a late start the next day. Written into the contract, not the culture deck.
Courses, conferences, tools, kit. Plus two days a quarter blocked out for work that will not publish this week.
A machine of your choosing, a field recorder for reporters, accreditation handled by the desk, and a home-office setup allowance.
All match travel and accommodation funded by SportzCrazy. No team-funded trips for anyone covering that team — ever.
Confidential counselling for staff and family, plus full legal backing for any reporter facing pressure over a published story.
Every January and July we take four fellows — two in reporting, one in live data, one in audio or video. It is a paid, full-time, six-month post with a named mentor, a real beat and a byline from week two. Half of the last three cohorts were hired permanently; the rest left with a portfolio that got them hired somewhere else.
We reserve at least two places each intake for applicants from outside the metros and from campuses without a journalism programme, because the best kabaddi reporter we ever hired was working in Sonipat and had never met a working journalist. No fee, no unpaid trial, and travel to Delhi for the induction week is covered.
Applications for the January 2027 cohort open . Questions to info@catalystwebtrendz.com.
No. Six of our eleven journalists do not have one. We read the clips first and the CV second — a well-sourced blog on Ranji cricket tells us far more than a degree certificate. For the data and engineering roles we care about the work you can show, not where you studied. What we do require is that everything in your portfolio is genuinely yours, and we check.
Yes. The exercise is scoped to two hours and paid at ₹5,000, invoiced or transferred within a week regardless of whether you get the job. If we publish anything you produced during the exercise, you get the standard freelance rate on top and the byline. We do not run unpaid trials, "test weeks", or speculative commissions dressed up as interviews.
Reporting roles are tied to a city because the job involves being at grounds and in press boxes. Live data, engineering and audio roles are hybrid — three days in the nearest office, two anywhere. We currently employ one person outside India, in London, and we can only hire abroad where we already have a payroll entity, so overseas applicants should expect a conversation about contracting rather than employment.
A human on the hiring desk reads it within three working days and you get a yes or a no — we do not use silence as a rejection. Unsuccessful applications are kept for twelve months so we can come back to you when a matching role opens, and you can ask us to delete them at any time by writing to info@catalystwebtrendz.com. Newsroom hours are Monday to Friday, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST.
Applications, fellowship queries and speculative pitches all go to the same desk: Catalyst Web Trendz Pvt. Ltd., D 29, 2nd Floor, Greater Kailash Enclave 2, Greater Kailash, New Delhi – 110048 · +91-9953590779 · Mon–Fri, 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST.
